Program Details

Consent & Respect is a one-hour online course that can be used as a prevention tool for all students. It is commonly paired with our alcohol prevention course for incoming freshmen or used as a stand-alone with the entire student body. The course includes content on consent, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, bystander intervention, incident reporting, student rights, healthy relationships, and survivor support. The content of this course was reviewed and vetted by Brett A. Sokolow, Esq., of The NCHERM Group, LLC, to assure compliance with the mandates of VAWA Section 304 for student-facing training.

Background

History

Originally created in partnership with Arizona State University, Consent & Respect was expanded to include all information required by Title IX and VAWA.

Theory of change

ToC is the thinking behind how a particular intervention will bring about results. Consent & Respect builds students awareness and empathy regarding sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence. Students identify protective behaviors they they are willing to engage in as well as bystander strategies they feel comfortable using for themselves or their peers. Motivational interviewing methodologies are employed to move students along a spectrum of change.
